Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk announced that Russia is actively seeking to expand its cooperation with Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) economies within the fast-growing creative and cultural industries.
Speaking at the APEC summit in Gyeongju, South Korea, Overchuk emphasized that the sector is a key area for Russia’s economic growth and international engagement.
Focus on Economic Growth
The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted that Russia is ready to cooperate in the creative and cultural industries, a sector that is rapidly gaining momentum. He noted that the sector accounted for 3.9% of Russia's GDP in the first half of 2025, with a plan to increase this figure to 6% by 2030. Overchuk also pointed out that Russia is already ranked among the world’s top 20 producers of software, video games, advertising, film, and animation.
Invitation to Intervisions (and more)
To facilitate greater regional collaboration, Overchuk affirmed that Russia is open to joint projects with APEC economies. He recalled that a significant milestone was the Intervision Song Contest, which took place in Moscow in 2025 and was won by a representative of the Asia-Pacific region (Vietnam).
Regarding future participation, he issued the following invitation:
"We invite all countries to participate in the event in 2026, which is planned to be held in Saudi Arabia," Overchuk added.
