South Africa at Intervision 2025: Celebrating the "Rainbow Nation" with "Home

South Africa was represented at Intervision 2025 by Mzansi Jikelele, a specially formed collaborative group that aimed to showcase the nation's diverse musical and cultural landscape.

Mzansi Jikelele is a unique ensemble composed of distinguished local artists, reflecting the richness of the South African cultural heritage. The group brought together stars from various genres, including:

Tshepo Nkadimeng – a blind singer and actor whose voice embodies hope and resilience.
Nhlanhla Dube – a soulful Afropop vocalist.
Lady Du – the internationally acclaimed Amapiano powerhouse.
Olutheren Smith – a gospel artist with moving melodies.
Martin Bruwer - versatile performer.

The collective was specifically brought together to embody the essence of the "rainbow nation," showcasing unity through music, dance, and storytelling. South Africa’s cultural presence was further strengthened by renowned vocalist, poet, and activist Ntsiki Mazwai, who served on the international jury panel.

The Song
The group performed the original composition titled "Home", a song designed as a moving tribute to a united and hopeful South Africa. The song fused Afropop and Amapiano rhythms with stirring vocals and powerful choreography. "Home" is a celebration of South Africa's journey towards harmony, inclusivity, and togetherness, narrating the story of a nation that overcame adversity by embracing its diversity. 


Contest Result
South Africa's entry finished in the bottom half of the leaderboard (15th Place) Their participation was strongly supported by the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (DSAC), emphasizing that it was about "flying our flag high on the world stage" and showcasing the country's talent and resilience.
