MOSCOW. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed that Russia intends to resume organizational efforts for the 2026 "Intervision Song Contest with Saudi Arabia.
Regarding the timeline for these efforts, Lavrov stated: "As soon as the situation around the Persian Gulf calms down a bit, our relevant cultural organizations involved in this will resume contacts with their Saudi colleagues."
Lavrov was officially invited and expressed optimism that Egypt would also participate in the upcoming event. "We hope that our Egyptian friends will once again be represented at this event," Lavrov said. (Egypt participated in 2025 as well)
Formal planning is currently on hold due to regional volatility, but Russian organizations are prepared to re-engage with Saudi colleagues as soon as the environment permits.
