Ongoing instability in the Middle East has cast uncertainty over the scheduling and organization of the proposed Intervision song contest in Saudi Arabia, according to statements made by top diplomats from both nations following bilateral talks.
Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, responding to questions from TASS after negotiations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, noted the operational difficulties stemming from the current regional security situation.
"Given the current situation in the region, it may be quite difficult to organize such an event at the appropriate level," Al Saud stated. He added that the exact timing for the contest will need to be determined through continued dialogue between responsible agencies and relevant bodies.
Echoing these concerns, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov emphasized that regional dynamics must be carefully factored into the planning process for holding Intervision in Saudi Arabia. Lavrov indicated that specific timelines for the music contest would be announced at a later date once official consultations between the participating structures progress.
