expansion, according to high-ranking officials from the Russian Foreign Ministry. The hosting duties for the next edition, Intervision 2026, have been confirmed for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Alexander Alimov, Director of the Department for Multilateral Humanitarian Cooperation and Cultural Relations of the Russian Foreign Ministry, emphasized the contest’s new status, declaring, "We know that the next contest will be in Saudi Arabia, and consultations are already underway with other countries. This will be a multi-year process. We are confident that the number of participants will expand." (Ria Novosti)
A Commitment to Annual Culture and Expansion
This vision aligns with the hopes expressed earlier by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Responding to the significant international interest shown during the 2025 event, Lavrov expressed his hope that Intervision would become an "annual event." He noted that several international partners have already signaled their desire to host the contest in the years following the Moscow and Saudi Arabian editions.
"There is significant interest in this project," Lavrov stated, adding that Russia intends to "build on the experience accumulated in Moscow," including the successful organization of broadcasts and fan zones, to establish the event as a permanent cultural fixture.
Officials confirmed that the contest’s voting system, which utilizes a jury consisting of representatives from each participating country, remains a core element of its structure.
Overcoming Disruption and Welcoming Global Interest
Foreign Minister Lavrov also addressed attempts to undermine the inaugural contest, stating that external pressure on participants failed to derail the event. (Might be referring to the USA incident)
"There were serious attempts to influence some participants and disrupt the contest, but they were unsuccessful," Lavrov said. Despite these efforts, he emphasized the contest’s positive reception, welcoming the interest shown even from Western journalists and observers.
Lavrov ultimately positioned Intervision as a crucial platform for international cultural exchange: "This is a wonderful event that brings together everyone who wants to stay updated and keep pace with developments in multinational, transcontinental art." The official statements cement the contest’s trajectory as an expanding, global cultural project with a long-term commitment. TASS(1,2)
