Lavrov confirms Russia and its partners actively working for an "Annual Intervision Song Contest"

MOSCOW, December 10 – Russia is actively working with its foreign partners to establish the "Intervision Song Contest" as an annual event, according to TASS.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov made the announcement during a government hour session in the Federation Council.

He emphasized that Russia is actively "utilizing the potential of cultural diplomacy." Lavrov noted the success of the 2025 Intervision Song Contest, which took place in Moscow.

The contest, he stated, is designed to promote the world's cultural and civilizational diversity and to "educate youth in the spirit of the traditions of previous generations." Efforts are now underway with international partners to ensure the competition is held every year.

This announcement from Minister Lavrov further confirms earlier reports that the Intervision contest is transitioning to an annual, multi-year format with expanding participation for the next edition, Intervision Song Contest 2026 in Saudi Arabia. Lavrov's statement validates that the concrete work with international partners to establish the annual schedule is already underway.
